Artist Statement

"Autism" is thought to have originated from "Autos" in Greek.

In my paintings, however, "Autism" is saying the psychological significance rather than the pathological meaning. Thus the work Autism - 我 can be a psychological space where subconscious psychology is multiply reflected. In this modern world, everyone may unconsciously alienate themselves away from their surroundings. This kind of psychology takes on the character of self-defense, but there is potentially psychological self-alienation behind. Although there are differences in strength, people all go through self-alienation process. All humans pursue their desire and this can cause self-alienation while desiring. Thus the process of my works is a kind of process of self-healing. So, It can be told that the method of treatment is created by the process of paintings. There are some marks which look like scratches in wire netting in my paintings. They show psychological injury which are occurred by the external stimulus.

The traces of the injury in my works are vanished or remained during the painting process. The vanished trace means that psychological injury is healed and the remaining  trace represents that the injury is still there without healing.
