East Meets West – Edward Heim et al
2020 Collections Exhibition
The Riverside Gallery presents the Fall Collection Exhibition “East meets West” – featuring the works of Edward Heim and others.
Oct 6rd ~ 19th, 2020
Exhibition of sculptural stone works by Edward Heim from October 6th to 19th. Heim is a Spanish-born American artist who is an expert in historic masonry and made forays into fine art sculpture as an entirely self-taught artist.
In his stone sculptures, Edward Heim attempts to negotiate an expression of the emotional and the subjective, experiential aspects of human existence with the exploration of the figures and bodies which those minds inhabit. The semi-abstract sculptures appear to distort in ways that poetically describe the internal moods and emotions of the figures being represented, which often include facial and bodily features to delineate a direction away from complete abstraction and into a stylized and poetic kind of figuration. Edward Heim appears to draw influences from various contemporary art movements, such as symbolism, surrealism, and street art, in order to continually revitalize his style and expression. Some of Heim’s most successful pieces come from marble sculptures, which have milky and rich material qualities that complement the indefinite forms.
Heim is an award winning artist who is a member of The Greenwich Art Society, The Art Society of Old Greenwich, The Westport Art Center, The Katonah Museum of Art and The International Center for Sculpture. Heim’s work can be seen in Galleries, Museums, and public and private collections in the U.S., Canada and Europe.
