Michael Ward Rosenbaum
Michael Ward-Rosenbaum is an artist from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Rosenbaum’s recent sculptural wall pieces deal with the absence of image, deconstruction of the painting surface and the psychology of art viewing spaces. His art making process is intuitive and influenced by repetition, chance, and a longing for resolution. The works are often shown in multiples and attempt to create immersive experiences.
Rosenbaum has also explored drawings of cosmos and life-inspired patterns and objects in his sketchbooks, as well as Sculptural Paintings made out of frames that question the nature of art in terms of how the viewpoint of the audience is fixed. His Painting series explores similar concepts by allowing the viewer to go around the edge of the art object that presents itself as a painting.
Rosenbaum also appeared in the 2020 MFA Annual publication of the New American Painting magazine.
